Late September I traveled with my colleagues Rainer Weyerts, Tülin Sezer and Ariane Koch to Riga to take part in a two day summit on Google Apps for Education, organized by AppsEvents.
The weekend was filled with various workshops on how to better use digital resources in school for teaching, learning and administrative tasks. All sessions were delivered by Google certified experts and ranged from using extensions and add ons like Goobric, FormMule and Autocrat to flipping the classroom via Youtube, creating blended learning experiences via Google Classroom and creating paperless workflows through digital assignment management.

We had a chance to investigate how the International School of Riga is providing and administering Chromebooks for their staff and students as well. Overall the weekend was packed with new information and many inspirations for improving our workflow and teaching practices at BIS. As Ed Tech Integrator I will inform all of our secondary staff on the most useful bits and provide training to facilitate respective changes. Mr. Weyerts, Ms. Sezer and Ms. Koch will feedback to their departments and offer training activities to ensure all teachers can benefit from the workshops.
